Fire Alarm Technician

We are looking for a Fire Alarm Technician to join our quality team in the MD/DC/VA area.

Job Responsibilities

 As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for providing service, testing and installation of fire alarm systems and devices. Additional responsibilities of the Fire Alarm Technician include:

  • Complete activities directly related to fire alarm service and installation
  • Complete documentation associated with fire alarm services provided
  • Customer service, coordination and communication
  • Technical project and administrative support
  • Ability to work independently or supervise others as required
  • Preparing work schedules, plans and carrying out assigned duties

Job Requirements

To qualify for the Fire Alarm Technician position, you must have a minimum of 3 years experience working with fire alarm systems, 5 years experience or more is preferred. Additional requirements of the Fire Alarm Technician Position include:

  • NICET Certification (Level 2, Fire Alarm preferred)
  • Proficiency with computer skills, MS Excel, Email
  • Strong customer service skills and communications
  • Familiarity with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and local codes

Fire Life Safety Systems Coordinator


Dynalectric is a full scale electrical contracting company, providing pre-construction services through final and post project completion. Some of our services include design-build/design-assist, value engineering, and CAD engineering services.

Certifications and Experience Required:

• Minimum NICET Level II Certification.

• Experience in electrical and fire alarm systems installations.

• Must have a good working knowledge of the IBC and NFPA codes.

• Must be familiar with all fire alarm vendors and systems including, Simplex, Notifier, Siemens, EST, etc.

• Must have good communication/writing skills.

• Must have good computer skills to include Word and XL.

• Must be able to multi task, direct Fire Alarm Tech’s, and re-prioritize daily activities as needed.

• Working hours per SOP.

Job Description - Includes but is not limited to the following:

• Work with project managers, fire alarm technicians, general contractors, vendors and fire marshals during the engineering, permitting and installation process for fire alarm systems.

• Engineer and design fire alarm systems to include device layout, conduit and cable routing, voltage drop calculations and battery calculations.

• Prepare submittals and drawings for submission to AHJ for permit.

• Review quotes, recommend vendor and purchase system.

• Set up fire alarm job book to include job specifications, vendor submittals, purchase orders and all pertinent job information.

• Review conduit/cable layout and wiring schemes designed by vendors to insure efficient installations.

• Review vendor submittals and shop drawings prior to submission to engineer/architect and the fire marshal.

• Pull permits for the work to include building permit, electrical and fire alarm permits when required.

• Submit vendor shop drawings and submittal booklets to the engineer/architect and fire marshal for permit review.

• Work with fire marshal, vendors, general contractor, and project managers to answer any job-specific questions during the approval process.

• After fire marshal approval and permits are secured, meet with the fire alarm technician to review the job layout and installation requirements.

• Meet with job superintendent to arrange for manpower to meet job schedules and deadlines.

• Work with vendors to schedule equipment shipping dates and deliveries.

• Work with fire alarm technicians to ensure that all company quality control documents are filled out properly.

• Schedule all fire alarm inspections with the fire marshal, participate in/supervise acceptance test.

• At the completion of each project, ensure that a copy of all quality control documents, permits, approved drawings and any pertinent job information is given to the building owner and that a copy is also stored at Excel Archives with company records
